Foot Care Tips for This Coming Winter

Published on Nov 18, 2022

Hi there! This is Dominic from Wide Shoes Only. I get asked this question a log: " What do I need to do differently to take care of my feet during winter?"

Foot care is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy the winter. Cold weather can cause dry skin, cracked heels and blisters. If you have diabetes or poor circulation, it's even more important to protect your feet.

Here are some tips for keeping your feet healthy this winter:

Dry your feet well after baths or showers. This will help reduce the likelihood of getting athlete's foot or fungal infections.

Keep your feet clean and dry at all times. Wearing a pair of socks every day is a good idea, especially if you're in an environment where germs are more likely to spread.

Wear shoes that fit well and are comfortable. Make sure that there is enough room for your toes to move freely inside the shoe. Shoes should be flexible enough so that they don't hurt when walking around in them for long periods of time.

Apply lotions or creams containing lanolin to prevent dry skin on the soles of your feet. You can also use petroleum jelly for extra protection against dryness during cold weather months when heaters are running constantly inside homes and office buildings.

Wear warm socks. Wool or cotton are best because they provide cushioning and they wick away sweat. They also don’t hold odor like synthetic fabrics do.

Your feet are the foundation for everything you do. They support you, help you balance and take you where you want to go. So, it’s only natural that a lot of attention is paid to them as we head into winter.

Use shoe pads to prevent friction and rubbing on your heels, particularly if you wear high heels regularly. If you have dry skin or cracked heels, use a foot cream to moisturize the skin on your feet before putting on socks or shoes in the morning.

Wearing loose-fitting socks can lead to blisters when they rub against your skin or cause friction inside your shoes as well as chafing around the tops of your feet where they come into contact with the tops of your shoes when walking around all day long! Avoid this by buying socks made from cotton that fit well and don't slip down into your shoe when walking around all day long!
